MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Vaccine Second Doses for Two Year Old Children in South East London

In South East London, we encourage all children to have their second dose of MMR by the time they are two years old.

This is safe to do and importantly it helps to keep your children and others in our community safe from any potential measles outbreaks in South East London.

The national schedule for the delivery of MMR second dose is by 3 years 4 months. However here in Southwark, we aim to speed up the delivery of second dose to help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

Evidence shows that after two weeks of receiving a second dose of MMR your child will be 99% protected from getting measles and rubella and 88% protected from getting mumps. Plus if they do get mumps the risk of serious complications are significantly reduced.

If you have any questions do contact us and we can arrange for a clinician to speak with you.
